Retaining Soil Moisture

One of the primary benefits of mulching is its ability to retain soil moisture.  As the temperatures rise, the soil tends to dry out quickly.  By applying a layer of mulch around your plants, you create a protective barrier that helps prevent evaporation, keeping the soil moist for longer periods.  This is particularly beneficial for young plants and seedlings that are more susceptible to drying out.
